NCGPS's website serves as a resource for those interested in learning more about group therapy, how group therapy works, and where to find an appropriate group in the Bay Area (San Francisco, Berkeley, Marin County, the peninsula) and all of Northern California. NCGPS members include group therapists in the fields of mental health, psychiatry, psychology, social work, and marriage and family therapy. It also provides experiential and educational institutes to mental health professionals and others, focused on the dynamics and structure of groups, facilitated by well-respected, experienced clinicians in their respective fields. I have been a clinical member since 1997 and have participated in many institutes and trainings.
AGPA is an interdisciplinary organization that has been enhancing practice, theory and research of group therapy since 1942. AGPA provides information about the dynamics and structure of psychotherapy groups for prospective or current group members and mental health professionals. I have been a member since 2005 and am a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP). A CGP is a clinical mental health professional who meets nationally accepted criteria of education, training and experience in group psychotherapy. A CGP is an expert in group psychotherapy and an ethical practitioner who is committed to group psychotherapy as an autonomous treatment modality.
